Hudson Gimenez - Romance Nº 1

My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section. In fact, it is constructed from a harmonic progression (accompaniment) upon which small variations on the main theme melody are layered.       Gimenez's social links:           Facebook      YouTube      SoundCloud     Enjoy  "Romance Nº 1" ,  performed by Carlos Marín Trigo:

Donna MItchell - Etude No. 15. Autumn Waits

  My personal review:

Etude No. 15. Autumn Waits, by Donna Mitchell, is a piece with a lively and cheerful rhythm.
It begins with a brief introduction, in which the composer does not deny her fondness for Impressionist music, which creates a mysterious atmosphere, attracting the listener's attention.
The first section begins with a broken melody (the right hand plays the melody and part of the accompaniment at the same time), accompanied by arpeggios. Again, we have elements borrowed from Impressionist music, since, although each hand plays triad chords separately, the combined result would be quadrilateral and quintilateral chords.
One of the striking features is the harmonic progression of the left hand throughout this section.
A second large section begins when the right-hand melody appears doubled at the octave, while the left hand follows with an arpeggio accompaniment.
A variation on this theme is the second part of this section, in which the melody is played with whole chords.
Both subsections are linked by a curious scale motif, repeated in a melodic progression, accompanied by arpeggios, forming the harmonic progression mentioned in the first section.
The end of this second section feels like a climax, after which a brief restatement of the first theme returns us to the initial tranquil atmosphere.
This theme is suddenly interrupted by the introductory motif and a fast-paced scale as a coda, leading us to the final cadence.
It's worth noting that Donna has always shown a fondness for the autumn season.
