Hudson Gimenez - Romance Nº 1

My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section. In fact, it is constructed from a harmonic progression (accompaniment) upon which small variations on the main theme melody are layered.       Gimenez's social links:           Facebook      YouTube      SoundCloud     Enjoy  "Romance Nº 1" ,  performed by Carlos Marín Trigo:

Ronald Karle - Meditation Thirteen. A Higher Level

 My review:

Meditation Thirteen is a piece with a moderate tempo, in which the composer mixes some of the resources used in previous meditations.

We could divide the piece into two sections. The first begins with a repetition of the first theme (four times). The first time, the melody appears alone, the second, duplicated in the third, the third with an accompaniment of empty fifths in the left hand, and the fourth with the typical arpeggio accompaniment to which Karle has accustomed us in the other Meditations.

This arpeggio accompaniment continues until the end of the piece. After a harmonic succession of cadences, the second theme is played, accompanied by the arpeggios. A new harmonic succession of cadences leads us to the second section with the exposition of the first theme, a new cadential succession, the second theme, and a final cadence, which serves as a coda.
