Hudson Gimenez - Romance Nº 1

My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section. In fact, it is constructed from a harmonic progression (accompaniment) upon which small variations on the main theme melody are layered.       Gimenez's social links:           Facebook      YouTube      SoundCloud     Enjoy  "Romance Nº 1" ,  performed by Carlos Marín Trigo:

Donna Mitchell - Prelude in A Minor. Elegy.

 My personal review:

Prelude in A Minor. Elegy:  is a slow and measured piece, with a strong emotional and dramatic charge.
Divided into two sections, the second is a variation of the first, with the melody doubled to the octave, which gives it greater depth and expressiveness.
The first section begins with an introductory theme (which will be repeated in the second), with a harmonic scheme of eight bars that will be repeated, with very slight variations, throughout the entire piece.
The accompaniment is made up of percussive chords, which change by the joint movement of some of their notes. We place special emphasis on the chromatic movement of the bass throughout the eight bars, since, together with the syncopated melody of the main theme, they give the work its special drama.
