Hudson Gimenez - Romance Nº 1

My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section. In fact, it is constructed from a harmonic progression (accompaniment) upon which small variations on the main theme melody are layered.       Gimenez's social links:           Facebook      YouTube      SoundCloud     Enjoy  "Romance Nº 1" ,  performed by Carlos Marín Trigo:

Randi Botnem - Menuett

     My review:

Menuett by Randi Botnen, is a piece in three sections and without tempo indication by the composer. The first section is an exposition of the main theme with a chordal accompaniment, which makes it feel more rhythmic, in contrast to the second, more melodic, thanks to an "Alberti bass" accompaniment and a third section, a re-exposition of the first.

The composer uses a sober style, with clear melodies and tonal harmony, in the classical style. In addition to her musical work, she has always been concerned about the social welfare of living classical music composers, which is why she created the non-profit foundation Together for Melody, which is a "foundation that aims to support living composers of melodic, classical music through offering scholarships and support."
