Hudson Gimenez - Romance Nº 1

My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section. In fact, it is constructed from a harmonic progression (accompaniment) upon which small variations on the main theme melody are layered.       Gimenez's social links:           Facebook      YouTube      SoundCloud     Enjoy  "Romance Nº 1" ,  performed by Carlos Marín Trigo:

Donna Mitchell - Prelude and Rhapsody In G Minor

   My personal opinion:

Prelude and Rhapsody In G Minor Donna Mitchell's prelude begins with a moderately tempoed prelude, with a melody texture accompanied by chords, creating a mysterious atmosphere. It is not really clear where the prelude ends and the rhapsody begins, since, after a flourishing melodic design, there is a change of tempo (slightly faster) and a small change of texture (chords in the right hand and a small melodic motif in the left, which is repeated). In principle, the rhapsody maintains the same mysterious atmosphere of the prelude, even repeating the same harmonic scheme. However, a second section of the same rhapsody drastically changes this atmosphere, becoming a melody accompanied by semiquaver arpeggios. Finally, as a coda, the initial theme of the prelude is taken up again and closed with a flourish design that runs through the piano from the middle high register to the middle low register, descending through a G minor arpeggio.
