Hudson Gimenez - Romance Nº 1

My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section. In fact, it is constructed from a harmonic progression (accompaniment) upon which small variations on the main theme melody are layered.       Gimenez's social links:           Facebook      YouTube      SoundCloud     Enjoy  "Romance Nº 1" ,  performed by Carlos Marín Trigo:

Ronald Karle - Meditation Two

 My review:

Meditation Two is a piece with a slow character and an accompanied melody texture.

After an introduction consisting of a small variation of the musical theme, each musical idea is repeated twice, the first time with the melody accompanied and the second time with the melody doubled by notes of the chord and the left-hand accompaniment that persists throughout the piece.

This reminds us very much of the structure of an antiphon or a responsory, where the theme is sung by a soloist and responded to by a congregation.

As a coda, this structure appears again with the main theme, although in a symmetrical way to how it had been done previously, that is, first the melody doubled by notes of the chord and then the melody alone with the accompaniment.
