  My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section.  Originally from Eastern Ontario, Mr. Martin studied music composition at the University of Ottawa with Steven Gellman and John Armstrong. Mr. Martin graduated with a Master's degree in music composition in 2004.


    One of his best-known works for piano is Brouillard sous la lune, a piece in the impressionist style, which aims to evoke in our imagination the image, as its title indicates, of a misty night under the moon.
As in painting, misty is a resource often used by impressionist composers in music, since, to a large extent, the aim is to emulate the same idea as in impression painting.
