Lorenzo Pescini - Love Song

   Love Song is one of the last works by the Italian composer Lorenzo Pescini.

    It is a melody with accompaniment that undergoes variations and extensions as the work progresses. Thus, the first time it is presented, as an introduction, it is in the high register of the piano, with a simple accompaniment. Later, the theme appears in the mid-high register of the piano, this time complete, with some syncopations and a slightly more complex accompaniment.

    On both occasions, the notes used for accompaniment are quarter notes, so even the harmonic rhythm feels slow and calm.

    In the next section, the theme is presented again, with slight variations, this time with an accompaniment in eighth notes, which makes the harmonic rhythm feel a little more moving, with syncopations abounding.

    Although, up to this point, the entire piece has been presented in C major, a sudden and unexpected scale in C minor, first ascending and descending and then ascending, but descending in C major, announces the coda and the final cadence, consistent, again, in the same scale in C minor, this time only ascending in sixteenth notes and a last chord in C major.
