Hudson Gimenez - Romance Nº 1

My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section. In fact, it is constructed from a harmonic progression (accompaniment) upon which small variations on the main theme melody are layered.       Gimenez's social links:           Facebook      YouTube      SoundCloud     Enjoy  "Romance Nº 1" ,  performed by Carlos Marín Trigo:

Nick Norton - Four Calm Interludes - IV. On Sol

    My Review:

On Sol is the fourth of the Four Calm Interludes composed by Nick Norton.

As its name indicates, the piece has been composed from notes of the seventh chord on the G note.

The composer, in this case, plays with the intensity of the sound and long silences, since, in a symmetrical way, a crescendo and pauses that are less and less long are produced and, towards the end of the work, a decrescendo and increasingly longer pauses.

    About the composer:

The composer states that, during the Covid-19 pandemic, he fell into a severe depression that led him to completely distance himself from music (not only did he stop composing it, but also listening to it). Until, one day, upon listening to the music of the Japanese composer Hiroshi Yoshimura, he began to be inspired to compose these Four Calm Preludes and reconnect with music.
