Hudson Gimenez - Romance Nº 1

My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section. In fact, it is constructed from a harmonic progression (accompaniment) upon which small variations on the main theme melody are layered.       Gimenez's social links:           Facebook      YouTube      SoundCloud     Enjoy  "Romance Nº 1" ,  performed by Carlos Marín Trigo:

Antoine Bernollin - Improvisation N° 6.

    My personal opinion:
As its name indicates, the piece is an improvisation of an improvised melody that Bernollin builds from a continuously repeating bass in his left hand.
As we can find in other works for piano by the same composer, this bass consists of the fundamental and fifth notes of different chords that are linked without following a traditional harmonic scheme.
During most of the piece, said bass is played with its two notes in an arpeggiated way, although, almost at the end, in what we could consider a kind of restatement (since it repeats, by way of memory, the melody with the one that started the piece), the notes are played simultaneously, which produces a contrast with the rest of the work, with a passage that releases all the tension that has been accumulating.
From this passage, a coda begins that leads us to end in an E flat major chord.
