Hudson Gimenez - Romance Nº 1

My review:       Romance Nº 1   is a piece in three sections, with an accompanied melody texture and a tranquil tempo, creating an atmosphere of calm and reflection. The thematic unity and the constant accompaniment of arpeggios give the piece a sense of cohesion, with a second development section and a third recapitulation section. In fact, it is constructed from a harmonic progression (accompaniment) upon which small variations on the main theme melody are layered.       Gimenez's social links:           Facebook      YouTube      SoundCloud     Enjoy  "Romance Nº 1" ,  performed by Carlos Marín Trigo:

Marianna Korol-Shekhmester - Jazz-Waltz

 My review:

Jazz-Waltz, by Marianna Korol-Shekhmester, is a piece in three sections, with a lively rhythm and an accompanied melody texture.

The first section begins with a four-bar rhythmic-harmonic introduction in which the ninth chord of C, the main key, is repeated. A simple and clear melody, played by the left hand while the right hand plays the rhythmic accompaniment, serves as the theme for this section.

The second section, in F minor, presents a new melody, which flows elegantly and is initially presented in the middle register of the piano, although it is repeated an octave higher (middle-high register), doubled at the sixth, thus evoking a climactic point in the piece.

The third section is a varied recapitulation of the first ("con improvvisazione"), with improvisations. It is also in C minor, but, in contrast to the starkness of the melody in that section, this one features a wide variety of embellishments, creating a certain appeal for the listener.

A four-bar coda, with the same rhythmic and harmonic structure as the introduction, brings the piece to a close with an arpeggiated ninth chord on C.
It is worth noting that Marianna presents us with a very clear musical discourse, which flows with absolute naturalness throughout the entire piece, with a very attractive rhythmic richness and a very smooth succession of sections, making the key changes between them almost imperceptible.
